Houston White Cane Safety Day Information
The 11th Annual Houston White Cane Safety Day (WCSD) is fast approaching!
WHAT IS WHITE CANE SAFETY DAY (WCSD)?
WCSD has been celebrated since 1964, and it has grown into an event that is recognized worldwide. WCSD initially served as a safety reminder to promote courtesy and special consideration to people who are blind and travel with a white cane.
Since that first observance, White Cane Safety Day has taken on greater meaning as a time to celebrate the independence of youth, adults and seniors who are blind or visually impaired and their right to participate fully in society.
